It seems Santa received my Christmas list this year because, wrapped and waiting under the tree was Marjane Satrapi’s latest graphic oeuvre, Chicken with Plums. I must confess, I was a bit worried that nothing could live up to the author’s heart-wrenching bestseller Persepolis and her sharp-as-a-tack protagonist but, (phew) I was wrong…

I love the simple whimsy of these tees by Parisian Genevieve Gauckler. The formula? Quippy, nonsensical phrases like “Elves, dwarfs, and spirits with magical powers are welcome” and “61% Human 39% Sausage”, flat, silhouetted graphics and punchy colorways. All 2K tees are $35 – check out the full collection here.

Although the exact parameters of what makes a track Electro are a little fuzzy and certainly up for debate, the universal ants-in-your-pants, get-up-and-dance, party-all-night-long vibe is what makes this genre so approachable…

I bought a little album called L’Ecole Du Micro D’Argent by IAM just a dozen years ago and since then, French rap has been a staple in my musical diet. I’ve discovered some incredible start-to-finish albums along the way (Taxi OST, Freeman’s L’Palais De Justice, Oxmo Puccino’s L’Amour Est Mort) along with a solid podcast: Yo La La…

Ok – the decade is on the out & we’re left with a whole slew of amazing music to help us cling to the memories. This week at MTV Iggy we’re putting together a ridiculous amount of Top 10 music lists, from staff favorites, to my must-hear Electro of the decade, etc, etc… To kick it off on Lo’s List, here is my desperate attempt to choose just 10 tracks overall (I failed, as there are 13 – but that’s a lucky number, so, zip it!)…

We used to learn our alphabets by reading those classroom banners that associated each letter with an animal or object. These days as kids become increasingly computer dependent at an early age I thought it was about time to adapt an old method to a new medium…

Toronto-based New Zealander Helen Acraman clearly has a soft spot for bears (ditto here). These tender pen & ink illustrations have the textural quality of aboriginal art, with meticulous use of tick marks and simple geometrics to create fur, feathers, and the like, mixed with a very Nordic-folk-ish approach to color…

This holiday season, whether you’re driving over the hill and through the woods or taking a transatlantic aeroplane to get to grandma’s house, the better you pack the smoother your journey will be. The comfort of long travels comes down to one essential piece of luggage: the Carry-On (or, if you’re roadtripping, the one bag you don’t chuck in the trunk)…

A special thank you to Ankur for making it to our wedding party aand for bringing Yuval and I this scrumptious little book! A delicate narrative by Londoner Rob Ryan, This is for You follows the artist-as-a-young-boy in his attempts to fill a void he has discovered in his heart…

Frogger, Space Invaders, Pacman, Arkanoid, Centipede… The hours I spent at the crazy, cat-tormenting Australian neighbor’s house just to hone my ability to cross the pond, kill the fleet, and evade Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde for yet another round…

As promised, here’s a quick intro to all the cuteness that can be found at Poketo’s online shop. From fuzzy bear post-its and mustachioed pen pal cards to day planners, checklists, and travel journals, if you’re one of those crazies that spends her Saturdays roaming the aisles of Office Depot (yeah? so?) then Poketo will be sure to fill some stationary void on your desk!

Just in case you think Poketo is still solely in the business of making radical limited edition art-covered wallets, this post is for you. They make other stuff. Lots of cool i-want-it other stuff, like, kawaii up the whazoo (more on that right after this, pinky swear…)!

Yes. We’ve heard it all before: plastic bags are evil. They’re killing hundreds of thousands of marine mammals each year and, with the rate at which we use them (500 billion – 1 trillian anually) versus the rate at which they biodegrade (400 years) the outlook is downright miserable. Aaand, we’ve seen this gimic before: decorate a reusable bag well and we just might reuse it. Well, here’s something new…

Ok, ok. So the ball & chain is right: I have a bag fetish. It’s actually a container obsession: our house is full of oddly shaped jars, vintage cans, quirky bowls & trays – all holding tchotkies I’ve gleaned over many years of foraging flea markets, boutiques and the like. But, yes, bags, pouches, fabric zippie things – sign me up.
