Watch Deluka Performing “Cascade” for MTV Iggy — On Flip Cams!

Have you heard Deluka? This British quartet’s dancey-electro jams have a smattering of dirty, clean, poppy and punk all at once. So much so that the NME described their sound thusly: “Deluka’s high-pitch riffs and husky toned vocals will cause cerebral malfunction until your feet comply.” They were in town a few weeks ago to do a shoot with us, and we were up in the air about what song of theirs we wanted them to perform. “OMFG” is a catchy burst of new wave neuroses, fast and stuttering its way to completion in under three minutes. Then again, their new single “Cascade” is generating significant buzz at the moment, appearing on the radio and AOL Spinner, among other outlets.

Having decided to go with “Cascade,” we went back to good old Vibromonk Studios, where we had previously shot with the Antlers and one of our 25 favorite new bands the Heavy. Instead of lugging around our traditional gear (ie- DVX, HVX, Canon 5-D), we instead opted to shoot with the Flip camera. We got a few together and figured out that lighting was going to be tricky, so we flooded the studio with lights. We did a couple takes of the song on three Flip cameras, and also experimented by holding a few filters up to the Flip as well. Here’s the result:

Also, here’s a couple of behind the scenes pics from the shoot, all by Jamie MacDonald…
