Oh, gosh — we know what you’re thinking. David Hasselhoff? He’s OLD… He’s not even really that famous anymore…

Well, SHUT UP NAYSAYERS. He’s still famous enough to dress entirely in skins of sequins, like a shiny little seal, and famous enough to be totally famous in Germany, which is the place we care about today.

Why is Hasselhoff famous in Germany? Good question. (Very common question, actually.) Because he did this: In 1989, only a few months after the Wall fell, Hasselhoff was a pop idol. At a New Years’ Eve Concert at Brandenburg Gate, he sang “Looking For Freedom” — a song which would become iconic to Germans. Watch and learn:
