Hello! I thought I’d take this opportunity to speed track you through my life before I start blogging up a storm on MTV Iggy (which I’m really excited about by the way, I’ve actually started declining social invitations so I can stay home and blog which is so not like me.) I am what you might call a diplobrat. A term coined by Francis, this French-Canadian guy I met in Bombay a few years ago, who said it with a somewhat knowing look.

This means that (thanks to mom & dad) I grew up all over the world. In my case Somalia, Germany, Lebanon, Greece, Ivory Coast & India and spent all my formative years at International/American schools as that exotic Indian kid. Just to clarify, no I don’t own an elephant (although I did ride one recently in Koh Samui) and my parents haven’t married me to a tree (um.. as far as I know) and while I’m sure you know all of this, a lot of the kids growing up were fascinated (and I think I little disappointed) at how normal my life back in India really was.

Cut to 1995 and my globe-trotting days came to an end until I joined a professional dance troupe (and cut a lot of class in college) to do some more traveling with Indi-pop stars like Sukhbir, Anamika, Penaz Masani and MTV’s Pepsi Dance Connections with copious amounts of glitter on my face. Eventually, I ended up in the Slumdog city of dreams and for the past 9 years Mumbai is what I call home. I’m a blogger by day, DJ by night and party animal on weekends.

I was here on 26/11 when terror ripped through South Mumbai and spent the night at a lounge bar called Dragonfly next to the Trident Hotel. It only made me love my city more. But for now its back to business; I work as a DJ on a local Radio Station – 94.3 Radio One, report in on the Bollywood buzz live with Nikki Bedi on the BBC Asia Network every Monday, run a social network called Friday Club, write a gossip column in the Mid Day and attend a hell of a lot of social events (I plead occupational hazard but secretly enjoy it.) I like to think my fly-on-the-wall perspective is sometimes funny and mostly fair.

Remember though that this is Bollywood; aka tinsel town, the land of Prada & Paparazzi. Here everyone wants to be on “Page 3″ – a direct descendant of the LA “Page 6” and very often they’ll stop at nothing for a full color high resolution mugshot. Watch this space then for all your desi glam gossip (and everything else that hits my radar in and around manic Mumbai) with pictures to prove it.

Perez Hilton I’m about to pay it forward!
